Say What?

41z3hwlg7bl._sy400_.jpgWhen in French: Love in a Second Language by Lauren Collins threw me for a loop.  I went into this book expecting a “hilarious” true story about the American author and her French husband. What I discovered was a book filled in most part with information about the history of languages. While this topic is interesting, I thought the book read more like a textbook than a memoir.  After reading fifty pages, I shelved my English and French dictionaries, skimmed the remainder of the book, and called it a day. Très triste!
