Conquering the Air

wpid-513f52vnkll._ss500_.jpgThe Wright Brothers by David McCullough is a thoroughly researched novel focused on the amazing efforts of many creative visionaries, the brilliant Wright Brothers in particular, who invented early airplanes. Fortunate for future historians, members of the Wright family kept copious written records of ideas and discoveries which transpired leading them to become the first men to  achieve success in the creation of a airplane which could fly.

What I love about McCullough’s novels is not only the content, but also his ability to  make the reader feel they are walking alongside the main characters. This novel taught me a great deal about many things in addition to early flight and I am grateful.
