License, Lovers, and Lies

The-Secret-Rooms-A-True-GothThe Secret Rooms by Catherine Bailey is an amazing true story about the 9th Duke of Rutland’s hidden past. The novel came into being when the author stumbled on a mystery while conducting research for a book about World War I. Her discovery rewrites history.

This fascinating book with many influential characters, who quite frankly, lived in a world few if us can understand nor relate to, lends credence to the adage, it’s not what you know, but who you know.

It makes Downton Abbey look like a children’s book! I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a great deal more about World War I from it.  It also confirmed my suspicions that the “other halves” live in a world all their own.
