The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles by Katherine Pancol is a fictional novel expertly translated from the original French. This is the story of two sisters living in the Paris vicinity. Their personalities are as different as night and day providing an interesting contrast in the story. Frumpy Josephine is a single mother whose husband left with another woman to raise crocodiles in Kenya and beautiful Iris is married to a successful attorney.
Plot wise, the title of this book proves significant in several ways and the author imaginatively uses crocodile references throughout the story. The story kept my interest and I looked forward to the secrets being revealed. There was one secret I found difficult to digest with regard to the real identity of a neighbor towards the end of the book. It seemed to me that the ending of the novel was a bit too rushed. Still in all, I enjoyed the book and think others will as well.
