A Writer’s Heart

I learned about William Saroyan while reading the recent biography on Kerouac.  darThe Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze and other Stories by Saroyan is a fabulous collection of short stories which speak to the heart and offer a profound look inside the soul of a writer.  The book was written during the 1930’s Depression.

I highly recommend Common Prayer, Myself Upon the Earth, and Seventy Thousand Assyrians in particular.  I borrowed this book from our library, but love it so much, wanting to read it over and over, that I’m going to purchase a copy which will allow me to refresh my writing spirit whenever I wish.
