Enduring War

ImageA Constellation of Vital Phenomena is Anthony Marra’s debut novel and it is superb.  The writing is masterful and at the same time, poetic. This is a story built around two back-to-back Russian revolutions begun in the late 20th century. While reading the book, I became so emotionally involved in the lives of its characters that I needed to take a break for a few days to still my nerves before resuming my reading.

The characters in this story are well-defined and one cannot help but feel their physical and emotional pain. The story masterfully depicts the wounds of wars and graphically portrays the tolls taken on the innocent victims of it.

I was deeply moved by this story and highly impressed with the author’s writing expertise. In my opinion, this is writing at its best. Don’t miss it.
