The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro is an enjoyable, recent novel about a young married woman from England who receives a surprise letter from an attorney in Paris notifying her that she received an inheritance from a woman she never knew. The story takes place in 1955, but the narrative wafts back and forth from the 50’s to the early 20’s. The book’s information on the making of perfume was interesting to me. After reading it, I went in search of my bottle of My Sin and decided to schedule a haircut.
I enjoyed this story, found it creative, a bit predictable, but overall, a good summer read.
