Dear Old Dad

dinnerThe Dinner by Herman Koch is a phenomenal novel!  After hearing a brief radio review of the story, I decided to check it out.  My month long wait in the library cue was well worth it.

This is a dark story about familial connections and the lengths to which parents will go to protect their offspring.  Narrated by one of two brothers in Holland, the story unfolds during a dinner conversation in an overpriced, high-end restaurant where the brothers and their wives meet to discuss the ways in which to address a horrific crime committed by their sons.

The translated novel is engrossing – the writing superb.  Had my eyes been willing, I would have stayed up all night just to finish the second half of the book yesterday.  It is amazing!  Please add this book to your list of must reads.
