What luck I had in discovering a newer mystery book at the recent library book sale entitled The Paris Enigma by Pablo De Santis who resides in Buenos Aires. I really enjoyed this book and love the dust jacket design. The problem I usually have with mysteries is that I can rarely guess who the culprit is prior to their being revealed. Predictably, the ending of this suspense novel came as a real surprise to me!
The story takes place at the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris. The Eiffel Tower is still under construction as eleven of the world’s most famous detectives gather for the first time along with their assistants to discuss their investigative methods. As their meetings commence, an unexpected murder mystery presents itself giving the detectives and their assistants an entirely new perspective on the fair and each other.
I don’t want to give too much of the story away! I leave you with my endorsement that this is a cleverly written mystery novel worth reading.
